Scotia Place, Calgary’s new event centre and arena in the Culture + Entertainment District, passed the halfway point on its way to opening. A June update reported that the project was on time and on budget through the first five months of 2026, with an opening planned for fall 2027 and the 2027–28 hockey season.
What is next for the neighbourhood
- When Scotia Place opens, the Saddledome is to come down. Under one proposal the City has two years to demolish it and return the land to the Stampede, with demolition expected around 2029 or 2030.
- In March 2026 the Calgary Stampede unveiled a 20-year plan to turn Stampede Park into a year-round destination.
Why home buyers care
Major projects near the downtown core can change how areas like East Village, Victoria Park and Beltline feel and function. Condo markets in those areas also depend on supply and prices. See current CREB® numbers on our home prices map and projects on the future map.
