Green Line Update: More Contracts Awarded as Construction Ramps Up

Construction on the southeast section of Calgary’s Green Line LRT started in June 2025, and 2026 is the year it ramps up. The City is targeting service around 2031.

What has happened this year

  • June 2026: the City awarded two contracts for the Maintenance and Storage Facility, which has to be ready so trains can be tested.
  • August 2026: Graham was awarded a contract for a 570-metre elevated guideway over 114 Avenue and Barlow Trail S.E. according to the company’s release.
  • Still to come in 2026: the City said further contracts would cover three bridges (over Deerfoot Trail, the Bow River and Ogden Road), six at-grade stations and other work.

The downtown segment

The route options for the downtown connection were scheduled to go to the City’s Executive Committee on September 8, 2026. Check the City’s Green Line page for the latest.

What it means for home buyers

Areas near future stations in the southeast, such as Inglewood, Ramsay, Ogden and Lynnwood, are ones to watch. Station areas have often drawn more buyer interest, but timing is long and nothing is guaranteed. See the line and its stations on our Calgary future map.
